Hi, LTF here! As promised in the previous post (see week 9 entry if you haven’t!), this post will be dedicated to work, work and work. Enjoy…

1) MEDIA: Graphics, Video and Presentation

Our tentative product logo. That punny name I came up in week 7 (see week 7 entry if you haven’t!) actually stuck around! At least 陈老师 remembers and likes it. Hooray.

Teacher App logo.

Student App logo. Yes, we are making not 1 but 2 apps. #Appyoloswag

Sidney is in charge of the graphics in our videos for our final presentation. Excellent artist.

All the cartoon pieces used in our video. All hand drawn by Sidney. Good stuff.

Heading for our first presentation rehearsal when BOOM! Rain. We got so wet that we had to go back

Presenting our draft powerpoint to the other ALP peeps. Didn’t really present well because we were the last to present (We are theme M after all), got rather tired after the whole surprise rain incident and it was our first time using the microphone on the teacher’s stand so the posture was a bit awkward. We will get better!

2) HEADSET: Fabrication time!

Remember that design I showed in the week 8 entry (go read it if you haven’t!)? It didn’t turn out very well… Too inflexible and too big. Back to the drawing board…

Second prototype. We switched to a sweatband as the method in which the user would wear the device. Prints did not turn out very nicely though…

Print all day all night.

Third prototype. I think it is a bit “chunky”. Wei Jun thinks so too. Will try to reduce thickness as much as possible in the next iteration.

Wei Jun electronics and 3D printing guru at work. We have officially invaded Data Visualisation’s workspace since they don’t go to IDI to work very often. They usually code in their rooms.

Renjie got the Neopixel strip to work. Super bright, super nice.

Wei Jun troubleshooting the electronics while I am the Guinea pig… Save me…

Laser cutting at the Cookie Fab lab. No need to close the cover before starting the cutting job. If this happened in SUTD, I probably would be banned for life but it does not matter here. #YOLO

Just took 2 attempts to get used to the cutter and finish my cut job. SUTD has taught me well. #abetterworldbydesign

Wah who is this swagster?

Fourth prototype. Looking good… It is time for mass production! Still need to get the electronics figured out though. That is still a work in progress.

3) FOOD: Theme Meals Montage

Baked rice at my room after a hard day’s work. I tell you Si Yan always know when I am taking a photo. Scary stuff. pREDator indeed…

Can you 外卖 新白鹿, one of the three food goddesses in Zhejiang? Yes you can! 外卖 黑龙堂 milk tea also? Incredible! Jack Ma MVP!

Also, I realised that I was wearing the same shirt I had on when I took the selfie for our display picture. Coincidence? Yes, it is!

新白鹿 外卖 lunch was delicious.

Domino’s Pizza after weekly meeting at Yu Quan. Did not attempt a selfie because was too hungry to care.

That’s all for this week. See you in the next one!

Team members: Ang Wei Jun / Jway Jin Jun / Kevin Tan Kang Rui / Lam Teng Foong / Suen Hung Ying, Sidney / Tay Renjie / Teo Si-yan When humans think and feel, small electric signals zip from neuron to neuron. These signals can be detected in specific regions of the brain through a technique known as electroencephalograph (EEG). Group M, a mixture of aspiring EPD and ISTD students, aims to come up with a product that leverages on EEG technology. The desired outcome is a Brain Machine Interface (BMI) , in which a person can control the output of the device (such as an eletrical wheel chair) through mental thought alone. Stay tuned to our our blog as we share our latest developments as well as other exciting things we will be doing during ALP!
