During the weekend, 9 of us took a road trip down to Big Sur, a rugged stretch of California’s central coast between Carmel and San Simeon. Bordered to the east by the Santa Lucia Mountains and the west by the Pacific Ocean, its known for winding turns, seaside cliffs and views of the often-misty coastline. The sparsely populated region has numerous state parks for hiking, camping, and beachcombing. The sea views were really nice!!

We also drove down to Pfeiffer Beach, which was known for its purple sand.

A few of us went hiking on the cliffs surrounding the beach, and we had a picnic by the beach! It was an eye-opening experience looking at the mountains in the distance, a sight that we could never get in Singapore.

We love having picnics everywhere we go

On Sunday, we went to Stanford University to visit our friends who were having their summer program. They gave us a tour of their campus and brought us to eat some good food nearby! We went up to the Stanford tower, where we could get a view of the entire campus. It looked very different from Berkeley, as they had many patches of gardens, making the school look nice.
