Last weekend, I went to Sim Lim Square with Meng Xuan, one of the facilitators.

It is a brightly-coloured building north of the Bugis MRT station.  Inside are four floors of electronics stores.  The stores sell industrial electronics, small electric vehicles, car audio stuff, LEDs, loose components, test equipment, and tools.  One store even caters to hobbyists, stocking parts and kits from adafruit, seeedstudio, and arduino.

Overall, prices are >= the internet.  However, it’s worth it to be able to see and handle all of the parts.  The shop owners are also very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions.

If it has four wheels, can it still be called a segway?

I’d never seen so many internet-only items in one place.  This mall is a tremendous resource for engineers, hobbyists, and students. It was a great day of discovery!
