Dear Diary, we were honored to had the opportunity to visit the VIVERE & Idemu Showroom @ Central Park Mall Jakarta.

Founded in 1982 as a interior furniture contracting company with less than 10 staff, the company has grown into a force to be reckoned in Indonesia’s furniture and lifestyle industry with over 1,000 employees today.

Mr Tommy Warsono, VIVERE’s Research Design and Development Manager, explained to us the complex and laborious manufacturing process of rattan furniture. A surprise to us all, we learnt that less than 20% of rattan manufacturing can be automated, with the bulk of the work on local craftsmen to shape and weave the rattans.

We then proceeded to learn more about mass production and customisation of these furniture in idemu, a subsidiary of VIVERE, which uses augmented reality software to enable consumers to easily customize their furniture, with algorithms that automatically optimize wood usage in VIVERE’s factory as well.

We are very thankful for VIVERE’s warm hospitality, and look forward to more collaboration opportunities in future.
