Around 1 week into November, the weather started to become more rainy and temperatures have been decreasing.

By the time December approached, I was “freezing” every day (to the amusement of my foreign friends from countries with winter below 0 degrees). The temperature for the past week seemed to be around 16 degrees, and it is dreadful being in this cold. I have never appreciated Singapore’s sunny weather more than now.

Weather forecast

Since temperatures aren’t actually below freezing point, there aren’t heaters indoors. This means that even working in your dorm room can be chilly. To prepare for this weather, I would recommend bringing the following items if you don’t want to buy them in Taiwan!

  • Windbreaker
  • Beanie
  • Thick sweater/Coat
  • Thick socks
  • HeatTech/Inner wear that keeps you warm

If you don’t prefer bringing them however, these items are readily available around Taipei so no worries about not being able to find them when you need it. My problem however, is that the quality and price on Singapore’s winter wear/heat tech seemed to be better. After spending a long time looking around, I gathered that the cost for a good coat is around $80-150. So if you already have them in Singapore, it’s a good idea to bring it!

Brrr… 🥶🥶🥶
