One of the most interesting classes for me was IS5116 – Digital Entrepreneurship. This is actually a Master’s course but I appealed for it to map back to the Entrepreneurship module at SUTD. During the module, I learnt a lot about building a start-up, particularly the initial few steps from conceptualisation to pitching.

The module culminates in a start-up idea with an investment and elevator pitch. I had the wonderful opportunity to form an international group with members from Ukraine, India and Japan too! It was very enlightening to work with people from different countries as we each have our own backgrounds and experiences. The start-up idea in fact turned out to be about bringing comics across cultures by breaking the language barriers.

Our pitch was very well-received by the Prof and amongst the other food/delivery-based ideas, it was very unique! It helped to have members with expertise in different areas and I also felt useful to the team by adding value from a UI/UX design perspective.

My team members, being from foreign countries, had not arrived in Singapore until after the module and recently, we took the opportunity to meet physically at Boat Quay area and it was a great evening! We saw the Merlion and the beautiful view of the MBS area. It was very fun hanging out with these new friends and hopefully we will meet again soon!
