With many of our faculty and students putting the final touches on their workshops, performances and interactive booths, we thought we’d share a sneak peak about 10 things at the Open House we are really pumped about! First, here is some helpful information about the Open House.

We will be running free shuttle buses from Jurong East and Dhoby Ghaut MRT Stations as well! See details.

1. Check out our amazing campus facilities

Taking place every half-hour, two separate guided tours are conducted by our University Ambassadors. The first gives participants a front row seat to some of our state-of-the-art learning facilities like the Fabrication Lab and various collaborative spaces. The other covers the practical aspects of living and recreational facilities on-campus.

Campus tours take place every half an hour all day long and start at the Campus Centre, Building 3, Level 1

If you’re more of the sort that loves to explore things at your own pace, be sure to also check out the following places that would definitely whet the appetite of any curious mind:

The SUTD Library Building 1, Level 1

The library, with its gorgeous interiors, will be exhibiting the design projects of first-year students, giving you an idea of what you might be working on in the near future.

The SUTD-MIT International Design Centre, Building 3 Level 1

Come and see some of the research projects done by SUTD students, and get a sense of the type of innovation-ready design research that you might get to work on at SUTD.

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre For Innovation Cities, Building 3 Level 2

If you’d prefer to work on issues at a city scale, do drop by to speak with our researchers here about the type of the exciting research opportunities for SUTD students.

2. The exhibition booths that are designed and fabricated by our Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) team

Beneath the lively hustle and bustle of the innovative exhibitions on display, you might notice that the booths themselves are unique. This is because they are the brainchild of a special ASD team who designed, fabricated and assembled these booths at SUTD!

Be sure to keep an eye on the blog for an upcoming interview with the team on their thinking behind the unique design.

The exhibition booths will take place all day at the Campus Centre, Building 3, Level 1

3. Find out about our special programmes

At SUTD, we created three special programs to help you develop deep specialisations in areas such as technology entrepreneurship (STEP), medical innovations and technology (SUTD-Duke-NUS Special Track) and technology management (SUTD-SMU Dual Degree Program).

Come find out about what these programmes entail, whether it be taking you on experiences to the US and China culminating in a Masters, graduating with a Bachelors in Engineering as well as an MD or degrees from two of Singapore’s most prestigious universities.

The special programmes information sessions will take place at the auditorium at Building 2, Level 1 from 11.30am to 12.00pm

4. Why take a freebie when you can make your own?

At the Fabrication Lab (Fab Lab), SUTD students design and build virtually anything with high-performance industrial machines. Curious to try your hand at making something? At the Open House, you will have the chance to:

  • Personalise your very own initial ring by using a Waterjet Cutter
  • 3D Print a Star Wars Medallion
  • Make your own digital Tap-A-Tune musical instrument

The Fab Lab is open all day at Building 5, Level 1

5. Take part in a design workshop

While you’re in the mood for making things, our four Pillars are also holding various design workshops to walk you through SUTD’s distinctive pedagogy.
