Our efforts making the pudding in the morning!

So earlier this week on Friday was our last visit to 湖墅学校 (Hu Shu School). In the morning, we were invited to try out some of the activities that they offer in their vocational years! A small group of us decided to try out baking, and so we were taught to make some pudding, which is a first for me! While making the pudding, we also interacted with the students in that vocation and I was impressed at how proficient they were with what they were doing.

Completed pudding!

Just before lunch, a student came out of the room involved in the handicraft vocation and gave this to me! It made my day!

After lunch, we engaged with some of the older students with origami folding! We started off easy at first, folding paper boxes. After warming up, we made origami cranes! It was my first time learning to make origami cranes for this session, and I’m glad I managed to do it!

It took quite a bit of patience to grab the attention of the students, especially since each of us had to take about 2 to 3 students at a time. I took 3 students with varying levels of attention-spans. It was challenging in its own way because I had to obtain the attention of the student distracted while maintaining the attention of the student who was fast and waiting for further instructions. But I’m glad it turned out well in the end!

It was just 3 sessions with the school, but I learned a lot about interacting children! With this experience, I feel that it will be easier for me to interact with children in the future. I’m glad to have had this opportunity to work with 湖墅学校 during ALP!

See you soon! 🙂
