日本語授業は楽しいね～
So Frank and I enrolled in a Jap Language Basic Level 2 class. The classes are every Tuesday at 9:00, and every Wednesday at 13:20. In the first lesson on Tuesday, I made friends with Jia Yue, a girl from China. We used Chinese to converse since Chinese was obviously a common language between us. After class we decided to buy the required textbook together, and amidst some small talk, we realized that we both speak Cantonese! She is from Guangxi and of course, the Cantonese spoken there and in Singapore are a little different, but we can still understand each other when we use it. I think that it is very interesting how I never would have expected to make friends with someone who shares a common dialect here in Japan. The rest of the class are international students as well, and they are mostly able to speak English. In the second lesson on Wednesday, I made another friend – everyone is so friendly! Class is fun and I’m looking forward to next week’s lessons.
