Excel Hotel Tokyu

こんいちは皆さん!ジャウェイです!

Hello everyone! Jia Wei here. I am grateful for the opportunity to embark on the CBEC programme in Tokyo Institute of Technology next week. I’ve already landed in Japan already though, together with my parents, to have some fun before the grind and projects begin xD

疲れた~

It has been a tiring day, taking a 6.10am flight, and landing at about 2.00pm Tokyo local time. We had a simple lunch before taking the Limousine bus to Excel Hotel Tokyu. After which we grabbed soba for dinner nearby and here I am writing this. Maybe I’ll discuss a little bit about transport in Tokyo.

Transport

First, most visitors of Tokyo are likely to land in Narita Airport. There are a variety of ways to get to the main Tokyo area from Narita Airport. The method we took was via the Limousine bus. It costs about 3000 yen per pax (~38 SGD at time of writing), and it takes you directly to your destination hotel in about a little more than an hour. You are encouraged to book your ticket online before coming to Japan, but it is also fine to purchase your ticket on the spot (we purchased ours on the spot). Look out for the orange signs that represent the Limousine Bus purchase counter!

Buses leave every 15 minutes from the airport, but the location of pick up differs in each time slot – it could be from Terminal 1, 2, or 3. My advice is to remember which terminal you land in, and purchase a ticket to a bus that picks you up from that terminal. This way, you do not have to walk too much. All the information you need, including which hotels the buses go to, are available online so do check it out before purchasing!

Unfortunately, your destination may not be a hotel that the Limousine buses go to. In such a scenario, you might want to travel via the subway, or the Tokyo Shuttle (1000 yen, ~12.50 SGD at time of writing). As I did not take this option, I cannot advise much but here is a link that might help you out: http://www.keiseibus.co.jp/inbound/tokyoshuttle/en/
