First volunteering experience! This was an environmental clean up on a Saturday morning. We were gathered, people young and old, students and elderly, with our gloves and trashbags in hand ready to clean a park!

Thus at 9am, we gathered together and the organiser started giving us instructions. It was all in korean however, and I at first, I felt very lost. Thankfully, I got a nice lady to help me translate the basic instructions.

For the most part, the cleanup was done at our own pace. In small groups of 2 or 3, we went around the park, picking up any litter we could find. We sorted the litter into different bags. One for bottles, one for cans, etc.

The park cleanup was done and then we moved onto the second part of the volunteering experience.

We were invited into the volunteering centre and listened to a talk about what it means as residents of Daejeon, to keep the city clean, and how we can do our part for the environment. Of course, this was all in Korean and most of it flew over my head but I got the gist of it.

Thankfully, there was refreshments provided!
