This week was the first week of our exchange program at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland. After settling in and taking care of various administrative related tasks such as enrollment, we took part in an exciting orientation program organized by the University.

During this program, we had many opportunities to meet other exchange students, who mostly came from other countries in Europe due to the proximity. It was really interesting to meet people from different countries and different cultures, and with a mindset so different from our own.

After the orientation program, a few of us went to explore two islands off the coast of Helsinki, namely Vallisaari and Suomenlinna. The former is more of a scenic island for some light trekking, while the latter is an old fortress dating back to the 18th century. Both places were beautiful, and I will let the pictures do the talking:

Life here has been pleasant thus far and I am certainly looking forward to the rest of my time here.
