初めまして (Hajimemashite) How do you do?
私はアンドリューです (watashi wa andoryudesu) I am Andrew

Welcome to my first blog post for the CBEC program held at Tokyo Institute of Technology! Firstly, I would like to thank Iijima sensei and all the staff from Tokyo Tech for being a great host. Without them, I doubt I would be sitting in Tokyo typing this blog post to all of you to read. Basically, Indira and myself are here for 2 months on a Cross Border Entrepreneur Cultivating (CBEC) program, with other exchange students from Egypt and Sweden.

As this is the first post and I have been here for quite some time, this is a burst of pictures and stuff from Tokyo from day 1 till now.

My humble home for till August

This is my room. A nice spacious room with a big big bed, (unlike SUTD hostel)

Tsukiji Market

The famous sashimi bowl at Tsukiji Market. Freshest seafood in a bowl of rice, as they cut the fish and place it straight into your bowl.

Design workshop (similar to 3.007)

On Saturday, we enrolled into the design workshop, in relation to the CBEC program, that was taught by Jae-sensei. I would say that this is a crunch up 1 day design workshop which involves every aspect of 3.007. I’ve learnt a lot from the Japanese and other exchange students. My team created an interesting solution for foreigners in Japan, which got many positive reviews from our Japanese counterparts.

Our classes are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; which give me 3 free days a week. We are based at Iijima’s Lab, working along with Masters and Ph.D students. For the past week, I have traveled to Shinjuku, Akihabara, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Yokohama, and Musashi Kosugi for shopping, scenery, soaking in onsens, museums and just chilling at cafes.

After 12 days in Tokyo,  and walking close to 140km of streets and malls, I have decided to set a personal goal to walk 10km or more a day which would allow me to explore more into the Japanese rich culture.

To end off, I would show you Pokemon plushies I purchased for my friends at the Pokemon Center Tokyo.

(p.s – if you are interested in any, just check the Japanese pokemon center online site, and tell me)

Till we meet again, ja mata!
