The last week of ALP marks a hectic week of finishing up last bits of prototypes for many groups, scrambling to order the last few pieces of Taobao goodness hoping that they will be shipped to us on time, and rushing around eating every single last bit of food that we know we can’t find in Singapore (and especially at such a cheap price). It really made most of us reflect on what we will (and already) miss about Hangzhou and China as a whole, and throughout this ALP journey, we really realised that there is so much more to the world than we thought.

Some snippets of the last week of ALP:

Our theme group enjoying sumptuous western delights at The Garage Cafe, lovely!
Mouth-watering mango shaved ice, can’t believe I only discovered this dessert shop behind the school on the last week of ALP!
Bicycles stocked up ready for the incoming batch of new ZJU students, look at how many are there!
Will miss these familiar sights around ZJU when we leave ;(
The group of us (with Shawn) enjoying our brunch at the porridge place!

A myriad of dishes coming one after another, very generous portions and all of us were stuffed!

This trip is the longest away from home that we have been to (for most of us), and it taught us a lot of valuable insights and lessons, be it technical such as programming, or survival life skills such as communication and independence. We are truly thankful for this wonderful and inspiring opportunity.

It is in my nature to learn, to grow, to help others, to teach, to explore, and to be fascinated with the unknown. With a keen interest in music, I play the tuba in the symphonic band and also the piano. Music is magical, and it never fails to amaze me how effectively it can connect people regardless of race, language, ethnicity and geographical proximity. Similarly, with my new-found passion in computing and programming, I aspire to create programs that does the same and to solve their problems, but in a slightly different, more technical approach.
