St Jacob's Market

St Jacobs Farmer Market is one of the main attractions of Kitchener-Waterloo and we finally headed down after almost a month in Canada. The market is not very accessible, but can be reached via a 30-min bus ride from school. Farmers sell their produce every Thursdays and Saturdays and you can find a wide range of produce at very low prices (such as four large boxes of strawberries for $10), especially from June to September. The variety of the produce available drops as winter comes around so it would be best to visit during this period.

Another key feature is the food, so go there on an empty stomach! Don’t forget to try out the famous apple fritters which has one of the longest queues. The pizzas from Pizza Junction also comes highly recommended.

Overall, it was a pretty interesting experience as we got to see local produce which includes fruits and vegetables that are not as commonly seen back in Singapore.
