Having lived in Hong Kong for such a long period of time, I have started to like the place a lot more. This is because I feel that its public transport system is much more efficient and well-connected networks than of Singapore. There are also various activities such as hiking, shopping and not forgetting the amazing food such as roast meat, char siew, roast goose that I love. However, it also made me realise how much more that I appreciated Singapore such as having places being less crowded during the non peak periods and the general cleanliness of our surroundings.

I made some friends in Hong Kong an it also allowed me to strengthened existing friendships. Living in Hong Kong has given me a fresh perspective on certain things and allowed me to appreciate more of the things I have around me in Singapore.

Ultimately, I felt that I had an amazing exchange in HKUST and that it was a very meaningful exchange. I would highly recommend anyone to choose HKUST as their exchange destination if they are looking for a more city-lifestyle exchange but of somewhat different culture and perspective. However, if you’re looking for something more adventurous and different from Singapore in terms of landscape. Then you might be better off doing an exchange at Europe or America, or other parts of Southeast Asia!
