This week, my friends and I went to do pottery at a quaint little shop downtown. It was quite the experience as we tried making beautiful pieces of pottery out of clay. Of course, the ones we made were not particularly beautiful but it’s the experience that counts.
The shop owners demonstrated and taught us how to manipulate the damp clay with our hands. The flow and movement of their hands were so precise and delicate. After conversing with them a little more, we found out that they started the shop after graduating from art school right here in Hangzhou. This experience made me realise that making pottery is not as easy as it seems and it’s really cool how they are pursuing their passions and making a living out of it.
