As an exchange student at the National University of Singapore (NUS), my experience was filled with captivating cultural encounters. I had the privilege of exploring a myriad of experiences that allowed me to delve into the essence of diverse cultures, uncovering hidden treasures along the way. From the rhythmic beats of Latin dance to the profound insights into Singaporean culture, and the captivating blend of tradition and modernity on campus, my time at NUS was an enriching adventure.

1) Dance Rhythms
One of the highlights of my NUS exchange was immersing myself in the vibrant world of Latin dance through workshops, performances, and fundraising events hosted by the Latin dance club, Viva latiNUS. Participating in fundraising classes organized by the Cultural Activities Club plus US (CAC+US) allowed me to learn energetic and joyful dances like Jive. These classes not only provided a way to destress but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants from diverse backgrounds. The regular dance sessions became a platform to connect, share laughter, and exchange cultural experiences. During the weekly dance classes, I made friends from Japan and China, who eagerly shared their local cultures, language, and culinary delights with me. Through laughter and shared experiences, we celebrated the universal language of dance, breaking barriers and fostering a sense of belonging.

2) Exploring Campus and Architecture
NUS’s sprawling campus offers a blend of modernity and tradition. The Stephen Riady Centre, with its captivating architectural design, stands as a testament to NUS’s commitment to innovation and excellence. Additionally, the campus architecture reflects the university’s rich heritage and creates a conducive environment for learning and exploration.
