This week was a small break off from our theme project and each of us focused on our own separate projects for our ZJU Design course.

By the end of the week, many of us camped in Yueya Block classrooms working hard on our projects and refining it.

The Design Thinking course proved to be a meaningful experience and allowed us to combine both our creativity and problem solving skills. After many iterations and frustrations with the limitations of the actuator (PLA), and trying to workaround with those limitations, we finally come up with an end product, based on van Gogh’s Starry Night.

Many sections of the painting contain cutouts with actuators applied to them so that they will curl up and down with temperature change, revealing bright colours underneath when curled up.

We looked forward to our recess week as many of us planned fun trips and activities during the break.
